Musicians Friend Rickenbacker

Post by sewman »

I've been on the look out for a Rickenbacker 620. The best place I have found that has them in stock is musiciansfriend. I have no experience with them.
Is this a legit company to buy a guitar like Rickenbacker from? PS I looked at Samash as well and they have none in inventory at the moment.

Thanks in advance for any feed back

I bought my 360 from them in 2009 and had no problems.

If you have a distance from their warehouse to you, I would recommend paying for 2nd day air shipping.

Oh, and welcome to the forum! :D

Exactly what I did. There was a $100.00 sale for the holiday so I pulled the trigger. I figured second day would keep it out of a truck for too long.

I'm planning a vacation day to be here when it arrives.

Midnight Blue. I also have a local setup guy who's worked on one of my old guitars I have some faith in, in case it needs set up.

Thanks for the quick response. feels like I'm waiting for Christmas morning.

Almost all us on the RickResource Forum have bought midnight blue 4003s from them in the past month too.
I have actually bought several things through them and I am left with a favorable impression of them as online sellers are concerned.

I bought a MID 620 one year ago. You won't be sorry! It's an amazing guitar, and looks fantastic in midnight blue.

Sewman,

Welcome to the Forum and congratulations on the newest addition to your family! The 620 is a beautiful guitar, especially in the lovely, exotic, Midnight Blue. Do send us some photos when it arrives.

The only thing I've ever bought from Musician's Friend was a case for one of my acoustics, but I've heard good word of mouth from many people who have done business with them. Their prices are about as competitive as you can get, they offer free shipping, merchandise comes in a factory-sealed box, and (this is the big one) they have a 45-day return policy. (Compare this to some of the high end Rick and Vox dealers who only offer a 48 hour return policy!)

The only thing you'll have to worry about is having your guitar set up so it's comfortable for you to play. Since you have a good local guitar tech, that shouldn't be an issue. The advantage of buying from the high end places is that they'll give your guitar a professional setup. So when you by a guitar from MF, you always have to factor in the additional cost of a setup.

Welcome aboard, Sewman, and please send those pics!

Welcome to the Forum.

MF had a 15% off Coupon this past weekend. Call them on it.

Email MF first for their discount price. Then call & ask for the additional 15%.

I've bought alot of Gear from them & they are a good Co. Sometimes you have to grind a bit for deals.

Enjoy your new Guitar,

Glenn

PS. Save some $$$$$$$ MF's 15% Coupon has been extended thru 9/6/11. Coupon code "Labor 15"

I've had very good experiences with MF over the years, with a quite a few purchases, including several higher-end guitars; as a matter of fact, my first-ever Ric came from them, an '05ish 350v63 FG. On the one or two occasions where something arrived damaged (more than likely an issue with delivery rather than MF), their return process was easy, friendly and painless.

Quite often you can work the coupon discounts over the phone when the on-line system won't cooperate.

Also, keep an eye out for their blowouts--(see the MID 4003 sale thread around here somewhere). Sometimes these are spectacular deals--in the neighborhood of 40-50% discount off of street prices, but you generally have to act quick, as word tend to get out, LOL.

they're awesome--been a subscriber to their catalogue for years, and have never had issues with receiving anything i've prdered. they're good, and i prefer them to AMS and Sweetwater, their two biggest competitors.
i will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, de-briefed, or numbered.

Probably won't work online. You almost always have to call with these last minute Coupons. Try again.

Good luck,

Glenn

PS If you've bought from them within the last 45 days MF will usually credit the difference back to you also. But you gotta call Customer Service and go thru the drill.

I would do Musicians Friend for all small online purchases, such as strings, pedals, etc. I actually refer them to all guitar players I know who want strings that Best Buy doesn't carry. Ordering from MF is better than going to the Louisiana chain store (who are a Ric dealer, but have no idea who John Hall is). Brian, is it all right if I posted the store's name?
