Hi, Kira! That thing is cool--I believe that's the first one I've seen in Jetglo.
Re: N.M.D.
Thanks, Jon. I think it's unusual, too.
It's just loads of fun to play, and I'm amazed at how truly it sounds like an acoustic.

So you've played mandolin before? You're one up on me! Some years ago I bought a Fender electric mandolin, one of the Korean-made chambered 8-string ones (they also made a 5-string version) with the same silhouette as the old solidbody 4-string and an 8-string version of the old "hockey stick" Electric XII headstock. Cool-looking thing--didn't sound much like a mandolin, though; real tinkly and trebly. Plus, I found that I couldn't get used to tuning in fifths. I could find stuff by ear, but I'd pick up the mando the next day and couldn't find it again! If it doesn't tune like a guitar, I'll get lost in a hurry. I wound up putting lighter strings on and tuned it like the top four strings of a guitar an octave up--kind of cool, but I missed that bottom range--my low string pair was D, a fifth above the G fourth-string pair in standard mandolin tuning, so I got rid of it. One day I may try it again, if I can find a Ric!

Neat!
Tell us more!!! where did you get it? new or used? what year? I sold a JG to a guy in Minnesota a couple of years ago, wonder if this is it?

Kira, that is one beautiful little axe (hachet?) you've got there! This is definitely the mando to have. Just think how far Jethro Burns would have gone if he'd played one of these!

Thanks, guys! I've been having a ball and getting my mando chops back up. It's been a long time!
Jdog, that seller is dreaming! That's more than full retail he's asking for that, and with scratches, too.
I've seen some of them go for around $1200 in recent times. Maybe he thinks the rare finish is worth a premium. Well, it ain't that rare if I've got one, too.

How about some Led Zeppelin?
I bought one in MG from Jason a few years back that we use in our retro-rock band. Always a conversation starter.
Can I request "The Battle of Evermore"?
Watch those teeth, Marlin. I'm not sure we've properly sedated the beast . . .
