Dane had a close relationship wth the southernmost Pole on the planet.
“I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did.”

Some call it "The Bottom of The World"...but we preferred to refer to it as "The World's Bottom"...

..was doing some work on a late '60's short pole toaster and thought it would be useful to disassemble and post some pics on this old thread for future reference...

BTW, with this post surely I must be winning tonight's award for breathing life into the most moribund forum thread... :D

Eddie, great pictures! Thanks so much for adding to the info here. I saved these, especially the one with the ruler.

This is one of those rare instances where it's GOOD to bump a super-old thread - to add something USEFUL! Thanks! :)

Glad you like the pictures. I thought they were worth adding as I couldn't find anything similar on other vintage toaster threads when I was doing my research.

I'm really curious, how do you remove the magnets without screwing up the pickup? What's currently holding them in? Glue, wax?
