So, Yes or No?

Allegedly this is Yes. Opinions?

Personally, I find it hard to believe. Possibly something Jon lent a tune for??

Sounds like it could be.... From around the "Time and a Word" era. Even with Chris's backing vocals at the end...

Yes, No or even Perhaps!

also - the tape is playing rather slow. Playing the "tape" faster (well, digitally) should make it better to listen and judge. I'll do it later.

Thanks John!

I think "Yes"... and assuming it... even the drums are Bruford-like .. cymbals, rim shots.. The piano fits Tony... the nice bass runs on the mid-high register (I can only think of one bassist doing that at the time)...
I pitch-shifted a bit more to fit in the key of D (minor , then major) ... only the guitar work is very buried and I can't hear Peter or Steve's style. But the vocals are Jon and the backing vocals are from the Peter Banks era, and the orchestra sounds of course like TaaW. The final backing vocals are quite like the kind of arrangement Yes did at that time (especially on the very first album) with Chris singing falsetto. Only the lower octave voice doesn't sound clearly like Peter banks... seems too low. Steve Howe tended more to do a plain octave unison harmony. So either it's Peter or Steve... or maybe in the transition period it was someone else and even Jon could be playing a rhythm guitar.

Ok I will come clean,
It was a "hoax" recording we did with Prog group The Tangent earlier this summer.
We appeared with The Tangent at a progressive rock festival in Blackpool where we (Seyes) opened the show with Close To The Edge,And You And I and The Gates Of Delirium. Andy from The Tangent invited our singer Phil Bernia and myself to record vocals ala Squire and Anderson/Gabriel for a bonus track on their new album.
Then they did the spoof radio stuff and put the thing on the Yes fans website as a bit of fun.
Let it brew for a bit and then posted a video explaining the track...

All good fun.
