New to me 5-er

Post by incubus2432 »

I finally got my mitts on my "new" Cii/5. Greg took great care of it.......just a few very minor blemishes from use. A good Scratch-x/Zymol-ing should take care of most of it. It plays nice as-is so with a few tweaks and my preferred strings I should be good to go. I don't believe I'll be parting with this one anytime soon (unlike my last Cii/5).

Here are a few pics just after unpacking.......

I'll run it through my rig tomorrow to see how I like the Barts before I decide on whether or not to order a set of Nordstrand "Big Singles" which were what I had planned for my now nixed 5 string Laredo project. Hmmmmm.....decisions, decisions......

I have a feeling there may be some black hardware coming my way soon as well.

Wow I can't believe Greg sold that! Way to go Brian!! :D

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on those Barts. You know, I believe there is a 5-string Darkstar pickup coming out...

They have been coming out for a pretty long time. I'd certainly be interested but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm shocked he sold it as well. He contacted me and we struck a deal pretty quick and I didn't ask too many questions (no need to encourage second thoughts). I didn't try to beat him up on the price either which probably helped make it happen. I believe we are both happy.

Nice one,Brian! I've always really liked the trans green color on these, and it is one of the best combinations with the gold hardware, too.

It will suit her fine. (I have to admit I do not like the colour of gold.)

Nice looking bass! I like the brass nut as well, looks good with the TRC. :D

Cant help but notice the plate at the heel of the neck. Did Greg have some rod issues?

Beautious! Don't think that is the standard TRC, though, but I like it better! The standard 4004 TRC on righties is the black plastic with gold lettering. Lefties got one like yours . . . only lefty!

Paul......yes, it is a replacement TRC.

Scott.....yes, there were truss rod issues when it was new-ish and Dale did the repair. I'll find out tonight how it looks underneath. It already has an appointment to get "freshened" in December and the luthier doing the work and myself will come up with an elegant solution. The current cover actually has a very factory look to it but let's face it........I'm a loon and I want the original trans green flamed maple in it's place.
