It's okay- I've never heard of them either! But as long as they can spell "Rickenbacker" on their checks, we're good friends.

Does pronunciation matter? They always call it Ricken BOCK er

Re: Musicians Friend Rickenbacker
I got my 620/12 from them in July. I was a little ****** that I paid extra for one-day shipping, and they didn't send it out until the next week... I was also astounded that I got a NEW '09 instead of '11. Made me wonder how long some of their stock is around.
The guitar came in good shape; however, not the best customer service when I called in to see about the shipping. I still ponder the advantages of having an '09 versus and '11 620/12.

Thanks again for all the feedback
Interesting about the 09 vs 11 NOS. I asked them specifically on the phone what year the guitar was. They didn't know. The opinion was "It's probably a 2011". I noticed today they are advertising Jetglo's ready for delivery 9-17-11. When I ordered my guitar Saturday night the Jetglo's weren't available until 6-2012.
It's all good I hope, should have it this time tomorrow!

Assuming you got it for MF. Did you get the 15% off Coupon discount? If not you should remind them. Also you have 45 day no hassle return. If you want a 2011 model in Jet Glo arrange a return.sewman wrote:Thanks again for all the feedback

Why would I want to exchange my '09 for a '11?larsongs wrote:Assuming you got it for MF. Did you get the 15% off Coupon discount? If not you should remind them. Also you have 45 day no hassle return. If you want a 2011 model in Jet Glo arrange a return.sewman wrote:Thanks again for all the feedback

Long time before it will be Vintage! But someday. Only exchange in the event that the '09 isn't exactly what you want for whatever reason. I'm doing an exchange right with AMS because of Blems in paint & some other issues.Ain'tGotNoPokemon wrote:Why would I want to exchange my '09 for a '11?larsongs wrote:Assuming you got it for MF. More importantly did you get the extra 15% off? Sound slike you bought it while the sale was going on & are entitled to it. Just trying to help out
Best of luck,

Re: Musicians Friend Rickenbacker
I have bought lots of strings, picks, ect from MF and I also purchased a used BB King sig model and it came in perfect condition. It was cat 2 which is used with some play wear, but it looked like it came off the factory floor. MF will treat you right. If the price is what you want to pay... go for it.
Re: Musicians Friend Rickenbacker
Musiciansfriend was a fine experience. I had no issues. It was easy to get someone on the phone, they sent me confirmation e-mails with a link right to UPS and so on. As someone already mentioned it was packed nice. Guitar in the case, case in a box, box in a box.
I'm really happy with the Midnight Blue. No need to trade it in for a JetGlo. Though I'm sure I'd have been just as happy with JetGlo.
This may sound strange, but I'm happy with the price I paid, and even if I could get them to agree to an additional discount, I wouldn't ask. I agreed to what I agreed to, and I happy for them to make a profit as well. Though I appreciate your suggestion and looking out for me. I guess the new guitar put me in a kum ba yah (sp?) mood..
Cheers

lets just put it this way.. my wife is more concerned with me looking at a Musicians Friend catalog than Victoria's Secret because she knows I would actually try to get one of the models in musicians friend
I've bought Rickenbacker 4003 and 360/12 from them as well as other gear. Greatly recommended , plus you can write a review on how much you love your new Rickenbacker and encourage others to buy one

Re: Musicians Friend Rickenbacker
I've done a fair amount of business with MF over the past few years.
Reasonable prices, and they've NEVER charged me a cent for shipping to overseas military addresses.
They even re-sent a shipment that had gotten lost in the military postal system--about $200 worth of stuff. Didn't even make me wait the normal 30 days to see if the first shipment could be tracked down.
I've sung their praises to anyone who'd sit still long enough to listen.
They've treated me right, they treat the troops right--I trust them.

Good point and well-said.Prairie Hunter wrote: I've sung their praises to anyone who'd sit still long enough to listen.

My most recent experience, while not a Ric, is typical of what I've experienced with them. A couple weeks back they sent an email out offering an addt'l 10% off of used gear. I poked around, and a Fender '50s Classic Strat popped up, daphne blue/1-pc maple V neck--I'd owned one a couple years back and kinda missed it.
The guitar was listed a Cond. 1/Mint, and the price was 10% off of new. So I go to buy it, but before I could enter the coupon code, the sale showed up as completed...I figured either I screwed up something on the checkout, or perhaps the listed discount price already included the coupon. So the next day I called and asked--and they applied the coupon and credited my card.
The guitar showed up here in Italy less than a week later, free shipping/USPS Priority to the APO. There was nothing to indicate anything "used" about the guitar--not even so much as a pick guard scratch--in fact, the plastic was still on the guard. GIg bag/case candy, etc., all included.
The only explanation I could figure for the guitar being included in the sale was that it has a 2010 serial number; I'm guessing she was just left-over stock. So to my mind, I got a new '50s Classic for 20% off.
"Let me take you down...'cause I'm going to...."
Re: Musicians Friend Rickenbacker
They don't do this, based on the experiences of a bunch of us who have received 'new' guitars from MF that had older serial numbers. I asked them about their used guitar poilicy one time and was told that anything that they shipped, once it left their warehouse, was considered 'used'. Which means that if a guitar came back to them (and was not damaged or defective), it was put back in stock as a 'condition 1' used guitar. I bought a condition 1 used guitar from them and it arrived double boxed (original guitar box inside a MF box). I could find no evidence that the guitar case had ever been opened since leaving the original factory. There wasn't a scratch or fingerprint on the guitar.wj350 wrote:Good point and well-said.

If they want to move 'new' stock, they just have a blow out sale. BTW, SamAsh.com does not have this 'used' policy. If something comes back to them, it is given as an employee incentive award or, most likely, winds up in one of their stores. Tom

Re: Musicians Friend Rickenbacker
Thanks for the clarification Tom. Your experience mirrors mine exactly, including the double-boxing, etc.. Like you, it thought it odd that the inner Fender box didn't appear to have been opened previously, but then I'm sure they probably have tons of boxes.beatbyrd wrote: They don't do this, based on the experiences of a bunch of us who have received 'new' guitars from MF that had older serial numbers.
