Does Ric still make the 1996 AFG reissue? I am looking to buy one, however I am having no success finding one.
Thank You,

I believe these are no longer in production. You just missed one for sale in the USA but as it appears not to have sold at auction I guess you could contact the seller and see whether it's still available. Here's the link

The one Lennon used briefly was a stock Rose Morris model 1996 in a regular 1964 Fireglo shade. One cost effective option would be to buy a 1970's 320 in Fireglo (many of the '70's 320's came specified with the f hole) and then swap out the high gains for toasters and the R tailpiece for an Accent vibrato. Some folks here on the forum don't like the idea of messing with a '70's guitar but these are totally reversible mods and you can end up with a genuine vintage guitar in almost totally accurate Lennon 1996 spec for quite a bit less money than a reissue 1996....
Re: Rick 1996 AFG
A major difference between Lennon's 1996 and the later f hole 320 models was the shape and location of the f hole.
Here is a link to a couple pics a showing one of the first 1996 AFG reissues made in 2005 and a 325V63 with factory f hole made in 1996:

That's true as Lennon's was from the later batch of 1996's shipped in 1964. However the earlier shipments in 1964 had very similar f-hole positioning to a '70's 320. See below:
Re: Rick 1996 AFG
I believe the it was the earlier Rose Morris 1996 models that had the "2 o'clock" style f hole and the "1 o'clock" style f holes came later.
Here is a link to a great site about the early 325 models:

That's a very interesting site Kevin. Obviously I've got the transition the wrong way round on the f's...Lennon's guitar must have been old stock of the early f-hole positioning even though I recall the guitar was given to him in December '64 well after the 1 o'clock position was introduced...
Re: Rick 1996 AFG

Re: Rick 1996 AFG
This is the "Period Correct" Rose Morris "1996". The same as John Lennon's (Which I own)
The "F" Hole is positioned properly in this Reissue, pointing at the middle pickup.
Reissued in 2006 for One Year only.

I have one. Mint. I collect, don't play. I'm going to be putting it up for auction, starting $4500.

Re: Rick 1996 AFG
You should post that in the Rickenbacker Marketplace "for sale" section here. Also - as this is not an auction site like Ebay - forum rules say you must list a price. $4500 is a perfect number, but you may find that is actually high based upon completed Ebay sales for these.Moiracat wrote:I have one. Still no rules about posting an specific asking price. So ask for what you think you can get.
Pictures are always welcome. Either link to a site like Photobucket) or resize to 1200 by 900 pixels and post here as an attachment. (But best in a separate "for sale" thread.)
Best of luck.
