4003FL: Updated Pics

Post by cassius987 »

Just thought I'd share some updated photos of my favorite bass and main gigger. It's a 2008 4003FL originally. The mods are the 4002 bridge pickup with a bezel surround, the black plexi, and a 1976 Stingray preamp under the hood. Man it sounds killer!

Looks really cool, Joshua!
Just next time you take pics of it, wipe it down. We don't want Tony and CJ referring to Fireglo or black pickguards as, "Fingerprintglo"!

I was just going to comment on the fingerprints!

Hey, you know what? That looks amazingly close to mine:

Of course, since mine has a serial number just 1 higher than yours, it makes sense they are similar. I didn't remember that you had done the black plastic treatment too...

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Nice, Joshua! :D

Joey, the purpose of black pickguards is to collect all the fingerprints on it, then when it is full you just replace the pickguard.

Nice Joshua!

I did something similar a few years ago with a trashed '76 I picked up locally.. I called it my 4001/4000 conversion. I sold the bass to Paul W.

( I always wondered if Paul has worked his magic on it?)

I never would have thought of it until just recently and jumped at the chance to try it... I am loving the combination. Since my new band is going in the studio next month hopefully I'll have some quality clips soon. 8)

Yes, I was quite reluctant to try it but now that I have I love the way it brings out the smoky warmth of the Amber Fireglo.

 Sorry guys I agree with Jeff! I always forget to wipe the bass down after shows...

Ah, amber FG. That answers the first question i had. It didn't look like a standard FG to me. I do love the "smoky" look it has.

Second question (set of questions?): how much was the black pickguard, was it from pickguardian, and where did you get the black TRC? The combination of FG and black trim looks very nice, and i may want to try it on my 2010 4003 one day.

Don't you wipe down your bass after each song is finished and then once again before you start the next song?
