Straps Locks for Ric
I think it has been posted in the past, but I can't seem to find it. I thought that one couldn't put regular straplocks on a Ric 330, but needed a certain type. Is this true, or can I just screw in a regular straplock? Thanks.
some of the newer rics come with schaller strap lock strap pegs built in. Ric sells a strap lock bolt that fits the existing holes for the vintage style Rics that are about 5 bucks each. You still have to buy a set of Shaller strap locks to get the part that attaches to the strap. I put them on all of my Rics.

No, you can't just screw in a regular straplock because Rics use a machine screw for mounting the strap button and the machine screw is larger than a straplock screw and has finer threading. Like Mike said, the newer 330s already have the Schaller posts. If yours is older, you'll need to buy the special straplock-ready buttons with bolts to fit the existing holes.
Yes, unless you want to install your own threaded rods into the Schaller strap-lok buttons, you will need to purchase the RIC Schaller modified buttons from a dealer and then purchase a complete Schaller kit of which you will use the fasteners only.
Also, for semi-hollow body models such as yours, you are likely to need a nylon washer beteen the button and your guitar, as the action of the metal fastener with the metal knob may transmit a squeaky sound through your amplifier.

The Ric Schaller modified bolts are 5 dollars each and come in chrome, black, even gold I think. They drop right into the existing threads. The 1991 610 I recently purchased did not have them, but a 2001 620 came with them already installed. For some reason however, they didn't fit into my the rear strap lock hole on my 325c58. The hole was just a little too big and it wouln't stay in place. The upper bout fit perfectly. Go figure.

When I bought my guitar, the Ric-Schaller bolts were not available so I just filled my holes with tootpicks and plain wood glue, and then screwed the smaller wood screws that came from the Schaller straplock kit. And I've been playing with it all these years without a problem... And Peter played on my guitar and I'm sure he never noticed!!!

Here is a thread I started on making your own Schaller-style RIC-compatible straplocks:
