Hoboken Vintage Guitars seems to be very reasonable with Rickenbackers like this when they have them.

Nice job, Jim, I'm jealous. Other than the headstock, how does this differ from the C64 I'm looking at?

Hi Grink, welcome to the Forum, I know the v63 is based on the 4001-S, so was/is a "less frills" model. The CS model is also similarlry based, but available in only that one Cream colour, the v63 comes in Maple, or Fireglo.

Your CS model was a limited edition production run, whereas (if you can bear the wait) the v63 is still in production.

Here's a great link from the forum with a very informative compliation of model progression and history.

In my own case I'd like to hear from the other v63 owners about this wonderfull Rickenbacker

Jim! Congrats!!

That was a great score!
I just received mine and am tickled with it. I am going to take the cap out of it though...it already has Pyramids on it.

I'm glad you finally found one!

Production has stopped for the V63. Al you can get now is the C64 and C64s.

I have a '93 MG V63. It's a beautiful instrument with incredible sound! I love it!

Thanks Chris,
I couldn't believe it popped up, I'f just ran a set of searches on Ebay for "Rickenbaker, 4001, 4003" and it didn't show, I ran a further search for v64, and v63, and there she was.

As I read the description, Fireglo, "J5" 1992 and the condition, I jumped. I missed a similar v63 a couple of weeks before, dawdling over the BIN. When I saw this BIN was $100 less than Mike's asking prce for a similar Mapleglo v63, there was no contest.

I can't wait, now I've RAS .. "Rick Arrival Syndrome". And that cap is coming out too ... I'd be very interested in your, and anyone elses observations on how the v63 handles over a 4001 or 4003.

Thanks for the update Kevin, I didn't realise production had stopped. That's a real nice piece of Maple, btw is that the classic strap buttons, or are they the newer Shaller Strap Locks ?

Thanks. That FG is real nice too!
They are the classic buttoms. I've been trying to get the locks, but the chrome ones are back ordered.

BTW, Your V shouldn't have the cap in it.

Wait till you plug it in! They're awesome! I run the rear pick-up full on, and the front on about 7-8.

Are two orange caps normal on a v63?

On my '93, I found two....

I Love Firglo ... That's good news with the cap. I've a spare set of Black Shaller locks, but I'd wait to get the chromes.

If anyone would like a set of Black Schaller Strap locks (buttons only) that have never been mounted send me an email.

Chris, the two orange caps are normal. You would have to remove the small pail orange disk capacitor in the treble circuit and put a piece of wire in it's place...
