Tech 21 Oxford - short clip

Post by clankchris »

Just wanted to share my excitement this pedal with my fellow Ric bass enthusiasts :) - I had the Leeds for a while, and figured anything "Orange-flavored" was going to sound too dark and muddy for my tastes. I thought the Leeds' "Hiwatt flavor" was going to be much meaner and aggressive.

Guess I was wrong about that assumption :P

I recorded this loop with my '03 4003(with 3yr old Lo-Riders) into the Oxford, straight into my DAW:

This was the settings I used.. so you can see it has plenty of output(bottom) for bass:

Cool. Ironically, I run my "Leeds" thru an Orange bass amp.

I've heard good things about running basses through the Oxford.

Your clip sounds great. :D

I'd like to hear more, with some melodic variations, running though more of the range of your bass, fingerboard-wise.

Thanks guys!

I'll try to get more clips up, but i warn ye - I'm a bit of a procrastinator on making songs :P

I have clips and loops everywhere, but very few remnants of anything resembling a song=)

Here's a few bass-only clips that are REALLY sloppy(I've kinda used that page as a pedal/preamp comparison page).

On this clip, the settings are the same as above, so there's more treble than some would like. But it really shows how controllable the overdrive is on this thing:

There is clips of the Leeds pedal(to compare to - I had similar settings on it) on that page as well as the Bass Tube Screamer, and the Proco Rat II...but I warn ye all about my atrocious playing!

Conversely, here's the Leeds in a song(most of one, anyway!) - I added some(very little, in the 500-700hz area) eq to it to help it cut through and sit in the mix better. The Oxford definitely has more presence and grind, though:
