Is Rick planning on re-issuing the 4005?

Post by larsongs »

Was it a good playing/sounding Bass? It was a really great looking Bass. I don't quite get why they were discontinued? Did they have issues?

I would think it would be like other Ricks & be a great Guitar? I think I want one but not willing to pay $10K or whatever they want for Vintage. I'd be interested in a new re-issue if they were in the 4001 - 4003 ballpark though. Hint, hint Rickenbacker! 8)

Are there plans to re-issue the 4005?

Thanks,

Glenn

I think a Fire Glo, or Jet Glo would be cool!

In a word, no.

John Hall has made no secret of his lack of desire to reissue the 4005. Do a search. You'll see.

Basically, they didn't sell well at all and they stopped making them.

Giant tuna boat, no thanks. I guess I don't see the appeal.

If we ever did come up with an occult ritual to revive one of the sleeping RickenElder Gods, it better be the 4002...

You want the 4005 sound? Take my advice: buy a Hofner and you're 90% there.

I beg to differ! I've owned both and think they are worlds apart in sound and feel.....

If I had a choice, and money aside, I would take the 4005, hands down.

Well so would I! In a second! There is a lot I prefer about the 4005 over a Hofner. But tonally, I always found that it either thumped of twanged, and balancing between them in the middle position was a little weird. I was very happy thumping along with mine. They sounded great - and Hofner-esque. More sustain.

Now Jeff, you know that's not necessary! I have many, many recordings made with one. Shoot, I've owned two of them! How many have you owned?

Why don't you post some 4005 clips here Jeff? I'll dig some out too...
