Prolly why more weren't sold. The 381 or any double bound model would make for a much better looking bass that would sell many more units, BUT with a 300 series style headstock, of course. In any case, none of these fantasy basses are going likely happen any time soon. My advice is to be happy that RIC has steadily whittled away at the backlog, and has built some killer one-offs!
Is Rick planning on re-issuing the 4005?

"The top horn is too long and looks like a . . ."-or something to that effect. In any case, most of you know the rest of the quote from that line. . . I concur.

There is no reason to ever be bored.

I've got an old Fender triangle tort-colored pick I got back in the late 60s - 1967 IIRC. That's older than a lot of forum members.sloop_john_b wrote:You once told me you had picks older then me.jps wrote:Only one, for longer than you have been on this planet.![]()

A video crew was shooting in the factory Monday and asked me about the 4005 on camera. I said it again . . . the full quote . . . and I thought the camera guy was going to drop his gear.paologregorio wrote:"The top horn is too long and looks like a . . ."-or something to that effect. There are lots of sites you can use for free to host streaming sound files, I find SoundClick pretty straightforward personally.jps wrote:Hmm, I've never set up an account to be able to do that, recommendations?sloop_john_b wrote:Why don't you post some 4005 clips here Jeff? Are there plans to re-issue the 4005?
[/quote]
If you really really really (add in a few more 'really's' as required) want one, save up...(don't tell the missus though)
Alternatively build one your self or pay a luthier to have a crack at it. It won't be real, it might not even sound like the real thing, but it will exorcise the demons!

That's not old. AFAIK the oldest photograph we have had at Labwork is a Matthew Brady print of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team from 1869. We have made photos from images out of books going back to the late 1500s.jdogric12 wrote:Old picks?sloop_john_b wrote:You once told me you had picks older then me.jps wrote:Only one, for longer than you have been on this planet.![]()

Getting back on topic...
I'm a big fan of the 4005. The 4001 & '03 too, they're all great and do different things.
Here's a clip of yours truly with The Shambles. The bass has TI flats.

Kenny, is that your green tone monster? That bass sounds and plays great.
