POLL : What will your next Rickenbacker purchase be?

Post by fireglo67 »

Using the 2 Rickenbacker forums as a reference, I've noticed that over the last couple of years there now seems to be a lot more emphasis on buying used/vintage Rickenbacker guitars, rather than buying new.
I'm just curious to see where you guys and girls really are on this.

I'd rather that this thread doesn't become a springboard for any gripes or criticisms towards Rickenbacker.
Lets keep it positive chaps!

Thanks.

Rob.

Interesting Rob.

I voted for "different older/vintage models" which is what I've done since the COY stopped. But my caveat is that I would buy new again if the right colour (White, Burgundy, Walnut/Autumnglo/Monte' Brown) came out, or a if I spied a really nicely figured specimen.

I voted different older/vintage models, but I am also waiting patiently for new models/features/anything from the factory.

That just about sums it up for me.

Thanks Mark.

I've included 'colours' in the waiting for something new option. I wanted to try to keep it as simple as possible really, but should have included that option as it's an important one.

Cheers.

The truth really is that I don't care whether it's new, or used, a Fireglo 330/6 string would be pretty darned easy to find. But, since I could only have one choice, I voted for new.

Rob, I would add to your initial post by saying when these forums started early last decade, almost all the focus was on vintage Ricks. In the last 3 or 4 years, the interest in new Ricks has increased along with the influx of noobs to these forums.

You missed having a selection for:

Even though I'm interested in several of the models in the current lineup, I'm waiting to see what the next RIC one-off looks like.

I am hoping that in the near future, RIC will come out with a checkered binding bass....they almost got me with the FWMOP inlays and the headstock wings....almost...... but there is no doubt in my mind when/if they come out with CB, I'll go for it ....

Oh yeah! I've got 2 of 'em made within the last 3 years. If they come out with more, I'm sure I just won't be able to resist. And black binding, oh man...

I guess I've been visiting the vintage guitars forums too often! People simply rave about the sound of the vintage sixties models. Something to do with the woods and the bracing. And the prices aren't as outrageous as some might think. Next on my wish list: a 1965 or '66 360/12 (with or without binding). I don't know exactly what these usually go for, but I'm hoping to find one in the $4000 range.
