It was a joke; I love any and all REM talk. Besides, the Vikes are getting killed...again!

Ehh. It's getting to where I feel I've had my share. I closed OurREM; don't really care to talk much on message boards anymore.

That being said, I don't care what settings Peter uses anymore. 8) To me, he's just Peter Buck. If I can sound like him using a bridge, middle, or neck position, go me. If Sweden can sound like him with the blend knob dialed up, go David. 8)

That also being said, I'm sure Peter also enjoys a good plate of nachos. Anyone want some?

but wait, before we drop the settings talk...who's the guy on the far right with the cool Rickenbacker? What settings does he use? Seriously though, I'm wondering where and when this pic was taken?

Maybe a mod could amend the thread title, just add "general Peter buck discussion" or something. Or may just merge this with the "What about Peter Buck" thread?
How does mod stuff work here?

And Patrick - blend knob mid-way, nothing else...

And the Mitch Easter pic, I would say '82-ish. Probably around the same time as the Pier video.

Hello guys, new to this forum as this is my first post. Been a lurker for some time. Peter Buck was the reason I picked up a guitar many years ago. Some months ago, I started tabbing (w/PowerTab) R.E.M. songs which I loved to play most and weren't tabbed. You can have a look at them at "Ultimate Guitar" under my account. For now I tabbed especially the old tunes (Pretty Persuasion, Radio Free Europe, etc) but will continue through to the more present material.
So, maybe my tabs can help you as they are quite accurate and mostly represent the live versions (one guitar) of the songs.
Just take a look. And by the way, Peter Buck ROCKS!!!

Ohhh... reaaalllyyy???

Paging Mr. Weller... Paging Mr. Weller: If the mods start merging than they ought to include the other Peter Buck thread as well! The one on alternate stringing. Otherwise we're going to derail three threads   :D

Welcome Sebastian! I'm going to check the tabs out - as I pointed out before, I'm too lazy combined with some tone deafness to do it myself
I was playing Orange Crush on an out of tune SG today and I though it actually sounded okay

I use online tabs as a reference - Not a Bible. The regular ones on Ultimate Guitar are actually pretty good. When I got my 620/12, I was on there immediately learning the songs I could never duplicate without the 12 string.

Well, it does help if you have Peter's gear and are him

Thanks for all the info on Peter's Fenders, David - I at least learned a lot in this thread :D

I believe David is a lawyer. Another reason why trying to reason with him is moot. I'm sure he'll find a way to argue that he is Peter Buck without being Peter Buck. :P

David,

I thought we had a very spirited and enlightening discussion, and I learned a great deal from this thread, too. Can we continue to discuss these matters under a new sub-heading? :D

Thanks so much, Sebastian. The tab transcriptions out there were in dire need of revision, so it sounds like you've really done a service to all of us. I'll have a look at your account on Ultimate Guitar. And, by the way, welcome to the Forum! :D
