I'm in the market for a 330, but a part of my brain is saying "plain Jane" about those guitars. Your simple mods show you can turn a Susan Boyle into an Angelina Jolie.
(No offense to the 330 or Susan Boyle. Plain Janes can be loved just as much as a 381 or Angelina Jolie. Uhh, at least I think they can.)

O.K., maybe expectable, the work on the 330 brought me much closer to it! Now I feel one with that axe.

For the reason the changes are not just cosmetically (toasters behave completely different), the sound and the feel (strings) amplify that growing together most.

Belonging to the cosmetic change: It looks like it sounds! That was important for me.

I can't stop being glad! Fortunately some here can understand that.

Maybe a more simple guitar like the 330 (no bindings, small fret marks) allows a bit more customizing without turning into bling-bling or overblown too fast.

Winfield offers an adapter to avoid extra screw holes.

I modded out a low end Gretsch 5120 (I would never mod out my Falcon) and I do feel closer to that 5120.
And you are right, the lower end models do lend themselves to modding more than the expensive models.

Have to say again, I dig your guitar. I am definitely stealing some of your ideas when I get me a 330. That little added touch of the vintage 5th knob I would never have thought of.

Cookers with vintage 5th knob and golden plexiglass were matched simultaneously for example in July 1963.

Attached the Suzie Arden 360/12 OS, the first ever made 12string. As I read the "R" was placed later by her. Originally it came with the trapeze. But the R was introduced before July, IIRC. Maybe Mr. John Hall knows the exact date.

The other attachments show the one-off prototype for the anniversary.

Before buying the 330 I read a lot about Rickenbackers. And some bits what I have seen came back in my mind, mixed with the waiting for arrival. Anyway, it popped up as what You have seen now.

The Arden and the one-off are the reasons for thinking: Do it, RIC did it already two times!
Just in dark metallic blue, my absolute favorite colour.
- Only the one-off cover in some strange glassy white letters was one too much for me. I preferred black writing.

The Suzi Arden guitar did have a trapeze tailpiece, originally; a subsequent owner put the R tailpiece on the guitar.

IIRC, the prototype for the 75th anniversary series was a 4003 that is currently owned by Paul Wilczynski, so what, exactly, is that "one-off prototype"?

Maybe the colour has been decided finally differnt by the factory because it is too easy to fake an anniversary model.

And it has toasters, a 340!

I see that was custom made for Matthew Sweet, so, technically, that is different than a prototype for the series, I think.

I understand now better, thank You!

However, "my" stile is done by RIC before. The mod had to be 100% "original". - All parts are still available.
Fortunately the dark blue appears a bit warmer than Jetglo. The DCMs use a similar degree of not being to dark, as well.


THIS 340 inspired me most to create my personal one-off, btw.!
