George Harrison HBO Film This Month
Throughout October, HBO is showing a docu-movie by Martin Scorcese, "Living In The Material World", which is an excellent 3-hour-plus film (in 2 parts) about the life of George Harrison. For those with digital TV, it's available on demand.
All phases of George's life are shown, and there's some wonderful never-seen-before footage; my favorite part is George and some friends watching the Beatles performing "This Boy" from an early TV show (not Sullivan), and George is beaming with pride, laughing at himself, and commenting throughout the video ("That's double-tracked" during John's middle eight vocal, and "I gave that guitar away" during the song's intro). It's truly a fantastic experience.
Not to be missed! Anyone else seen it?

Thanks for the update... Unfortunately, I don't get HBO (I hate wasting money on my cable company) but hopefully this will be available via video on demand or DVD/Blu-Ray soon. The film sounds great!

Check out the discussion of this on the Beatles Forum:

Haven't seen any of the documentary yet, but I've always been drawn to Harrison's music, and Scorcese's Bob Dylan production "No Direction Home" was a tour de force.

This looked really good. Does anyone have a link to it online? I also don't have HBO, nor do i own a television...
Re: George Harrison HBO Film This Month
I searched and I couldn't find it online (yet). The DVD or Blu-Ray appears to be available only in the UK. So, looks like you must have HBO to watch it in the USA.The Mod Lang wrote:This looked really good. Does anyone have a link to it online? I also don't have HBO, nor do i own a television...

I found lots of links here. Some work, some do not, and some are better quality than others.

Re: George Harrison HBO Film This Month
Anyone know when this will be available on DVD in the US?
Re: George Harrison HBO Film This Month
As of right now, no immediate plans. I bought a copy from the UK and it's finally on it's way (story about that when it comes in), and have one of my computers set for Region 2 playback (I will also let ya'll know if the disc itself is region free or not)
