Unfortunately, the photos in the ebay ad don't really capture the "Gray" of the "Grayglo." The bass was manufactured week 36 of 2007, so it's in the "Grayglo" timeframe.

Someone got the 4003 Grayglo on ebay for $1475.

Seems my memory on GreyGlo wasn't all that bad. From Nov. 15, 2007:

We have produced some instruments like this and dealers have been quite enthusiastic of the color. However, it remains to be seen whether we'll produce additional units."

Now you can see how difficult it has been trying to get correct details into the book. What you think is correct, accurate, and sensible today, may be foolish nonsense tomorrow. You think you have it all figured out and you publish. Then folks reveal more information (which MAY be more correct -- MAYbe not) and you save it for the next edition. I see on one of the other forums where Andy Babiuk is coming out with a new edition of Beatles Gear in 2014 that will be more than 500 pages, better than twice the first edition! Looks like I'll have my work cut out for me for some time.

It was posted here, as a copy from the corporate forum. In a posting from "Thu Nov 15, 2007 2:55 am" this can be found on the corporate forum (just search for "Long story that would be GrayGlo" over there (and over here).)

Mighta been a nice touch to let customers who had ordered and waited for Jetglo guitars know they were getting treated to a new color....just technique, of course.

Even If you got one, you could turn it around, buy a new one and still have some money leftover.

I did have a link to the RIC forum. Evidently even that forum is taboo to link to.
