Eight, by my recollection. Nine to Madrid, where my daughter lives.

Congrats Kira and Paul, a real beauty! Love the Ruby and checkered binding.jingle_jangle wrote:Also chic...a formerly-jetglo '82 320 that Kira brought to me almost 3 years ago. She did the prep and binding, I did the fretboard, refret, paint, detailing, buffing.
She put it together over the weekend and sent me these photos:
Kira tells me that she's the original owner, and bought this beauty at Guitar Center in SF back in '83 for...$600.00. I'm honored to have participated in giving it a new life!
No comparison, really, but an interesting coincidence -- this just up on ebay, a 320 Ruby 1988: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rickenbacker-32 ... 2568fb2af0
Re: LOTS OF PROJECTS NEARING COMPLETION...
Ron, this one is in the register. Just by chance I was looking at it this morning. I had no idea it was for sale.

Ah, so that's it. Thanks.
What a coincidence. The only two Ruby 320s in the register, entered within a day of each other.

I've got a third...
Re: LOTS OF PROJECTS NEARING COMPLETION...
Regardless, I think it's terrific that Ron and all the gang go to the trouble of collecting serial numbers and photos so very extensibly. It is a service that enriches our knowledge bank, and it's highly laudable to us all. I know there's a lot of people here working at it quietly, filling in our database. They deserve big thanks.
As I've come to understand it, applying a ruby finish can be a bit of a sweaty palms affair, as it is rather fragile and unforgiving. If it gets dinged or sanded through mid-process, you are back to square one. Seldom is touch-up possible.

Re: LOTS OF PROJECTS NEARING COMPLETION...
As promised, here are some completed shots of Tim's 380/12.
Well, almost completed...the thimbles I ordered for the 6 strings that pass through the body, were not what was shipped, so I've got to get some of the correct ones before I drill the holes and fit them in the back.
Hence, only 6 strings in these shots. But, except for that minor glitch, it's finished:
I'll start with the varnished and shaded walnut back. These were taken in early morning sunlight, so they're quite dramatic, color-wise:

On to a whole body shot from the front, showing the inlay scheme:

Finally, some closeups:

...and as soon as it's got all 12 strings, I'll do some more pics and maybe some sound files, too.
Credit where credit is due department--the inlay work is by Craig Lavin of Sunrise, Florida.
