I wonder why they decided to "Overwind" a coil. That wouldn't be close to what the HS was.

All this is posted on an Internet bulletin board, so it must be true right?

Notice the lack of "Made in USA" on the C64.

Paul's TRC on his 4001S is a replacement. The TRC on the C64 is based on what Paul originally got.

Take a look:

Resolution isn't so hot, but it's still apparent that the C64 is based off of what's in the picture.

Wonder what happened to the broken parts taken off of Paul's bass? Probably put back in the case for him, I guess. What a souvenir that would be!
Great Ramp In My Opinion.

Maybe it did get replaced. Could I get Mr. Hall to shed some light on this one.

I believe that this picture is from NCM and it is in my closet now. The top picture that is.

Why do you keep the top picture in your closet?

Never mind, probably best not to ask.

The instrument did have its tailpiece replaced and the idea of the C Series reissue was to replicate it in the state at the time when the series was first offered. That may be how it still is, since I haven't see the bass in person for quite awhile. I do seem to recall also, that someone said that they thought the zero-fret had been removed not so long ago.

Thats pretty cool that you saw THE bass in person, the same bass you presented to him in 1965 at the hollywood bowld...even though it was lefty, did you give it a go?
