I know what you mean, I like 450s for the same reason.

Fot the record, my first Rickenbacker was indeed a twelve-string (a 1992 360/12 MG).

In your avatar photo your Ric looks to have a gold truss rod cover and white pickguard. Is it that way or is the photo off a bit?

@Tommy: You are absolutely right - the photo is off a bit.
All parts are golden plexiglass, or to be correct in this certain case, polycarbonate.

I made a few mistakes while photographing. And golden parts are hard to photograph, IMHO. There is only one picture (with some "parts" of me) without the tint of all the other photos. See attachment.

I have to provide a real photo session with more time for preparing.
The about 40 photos I took were a five minutes thing being outside at 10°C degrees - I was a bit in fear and wanted to avoid damage for the guitar.

The gold guard/truss rod cover is exactly what I want to do with my Ric (if Santa delivers one this Christmas). One thing that is driving me nuts is the gold guard is easily purchased, but a matching gold truss rod cover is not. I know that one can spray my white truss rod cover, but then that eliminates the option of switching back and forth between white and gold.
I find it very frustrating that a simple part (a cheap gold trc) is throwing off my plans for a guitar.

Me, too.
To find scratch plates in Germany is nearly impossible. Concerning TRCs we do not need to talk about, completely impossible here. Not even standard white ones.

Well, I went a different way: All golden parts You see are self made from plain 3mm polycarbonate (less danger of cracking).

I'd go for a 310 for simplicity. Be careful with manufacturing fake TRC's its technically illegal. You're guitar looks really nice by the way.

Concerning the TRC: based on german law I am allowed to produce one for me, for own use.

These things I will never do: Sell complete ones, pass details or files of them or guide people how to do it.
Forwarding and/ or commercial benefit is strictly forbidden.

If I would do it, I would cause two major problems:
1. I would reduce the value of mine and other Rickenbackers.
2. I would be the lunch of RICs surely well trained lawyers.

PMs and other ways to please me to sell or help in this I will not answer. Yet and in future.


Btw.: I am owner of a brand. If somebody abuses the rights I was working and fighting very hard for, I would fry him with my lawyers in a few days, too.

The quality of my TRC is better than the standard white from the factory, sorry RIC! That was the main reason to change.
(O.K., at this point I can say I am close to the typical stereotype of a German engineer. - Below perfect it is nothing. )

Maybe RIC allows to produce and sell them the way they do: in exchange. There is no need to do it for the ones Rickenbacker already offers, but maybe interesting for the ones RIC does not offer (any more).
Because my way is 100% handmade (with hand polished edges ) every shape would be possible.

But I can not offers this, interested persons have to write to RIC directly to suggest it. If we could find an official and legal way with 100% agreement by RIC, I would do it.
