Nice flame!
I'm really glad to see some experimental work being done on the 4004cii.
It looks more MONTY than a Walnut, but STILL my FAVORITE color scheme.
I really hope some of you 4003 guys would give these a try.
I can't wait to try the new neck profile! Even with the old neck profile, I miss my Blueburst.
As fate would have it, OLIVIA"s now has my very bass on Ebay.
It really is such a versatile bass, just like a Pbass on steroids with some classic RIC tones thrown in to boot.

Watch those teeth, Marlin. I'm not sure we've properly sedated the beast . . .

Really really LIKE! love that brown halo/fade into MG.
+1 to what Tony said, 4004's are fantastic basses! I've got 2 of 'em with the older neck profile, they are just the best! And the pickups do allow for wiring flexibility,so you can easily make a stock bass even more tonally versatile.

Kind of resembles this 4004Cii Monte Brown from 2004, though the color shading is a bit different (Your Monitor/Camera/Lighting May Vary) and the one-off appears more flamed: http://www.rickresource.com/register/vi ... lebrity%3D

It's nice looking' and I'm glad to finally see a 4004 get the one-off-factory-treatment. Too similar to a Monty Brown for me to pry my wallet open however.

While the finish and maple are definitely nice, I think pickups in the 4002 position with VVT wiring and coil taps would really push the 4004 concept to new ground.

Re: New RIC 4004Cii Special
I agree. I believe the 4002 pup placement was based on the J bass, hence to attract J bass players. The mod Dane originally did on my former 4004L (and now Woody's) really offers great tonal flexability. In addition to my Rics, I have two Hamer Cruise basses, their body and pup placement are J based. While very different in many ways than my Rics, the tone they create is nice and offers versatility with the separate volume for each pup.aceonbass wrote:While the finish and maple are definitely nice, I think pickups in the 4002 position with VVT wiring and coil taps would really push the 4004 concept to new ground.
