How I want to get old with my first new bought Rickenbacker

Post by Hotzenplotz »

Owning another one before and sure the actual is not the last one, the one I have actually is for certain different reasons a special one to me.

Now I found a very lovely made short movie from BMW that shows an old man and his wonderful, high quality car. A constellation that reminds me of the aura of our instruments.

Maybe You can understand what I mean:

Nice, a 6 series, right? Looks like a Euro car that was imported to the US, especially, given it having the steering wheel on the wrong side!

Double-nope! It is a 2800 CS (Coupe Sport), the one before the 6 series was invented! The 6 series came up in the 70's, the CS started '68, IIRC. The steering wheel is at the left side, just for Britons and Japanese on the wrong side.

As a BMW fan and driver I can not get enough of the clear and elegant lining of the body - like a Rickenbacker.

I love the story behind, someone decided to share a long, long time with a product that is worth to do so. He mentioned the car feels like it is carved out from one piece. - again like a Rickenbacker, too.
That is better than to buy all the time a lot of "must haves", IMHO.

This sensitive movie captures a special feeling for me. THIS is exactly how I feel about my 330/6.
O.K., I am at the beginning of such a story - but Murray was 40 years before, too. Maybe in 40 years I still can take out my 330/6 for having some fun, too. And then it can tell nice stories, too. Already today knowing that it would be easy for the guitar. It is more the question if I will be in a state like Murray is still.

There's a really lovely '73 CS 3.0 in Tiagra Green that I see most days in town. Beautiful lines, and in that color, really special. Compare that to the last 10 years of BMW styling, which, subjectively speaking, has been terrible in comparison to 40 years ago.

I agree; I love the CS and the 6 series styling, although the 507 was no slouch in that department, either.

Anyone care for an Isetta?

Wait! I have to go out and look into my car trunk! Must be one rolling around there...
BMW was the only factory that delivered drivable key tags.

But lovely cars with that to the front opening door!
The "BMW unscripted" area offers a movie about an Italian couple that drove the retro Mille Miglia Rallye with that, no breakdown of course!!! - 1.000 Miles! As Dean Martin sung: That's amore!

BTW a Smart is not a really fresh idea compared to the Isetta.

I am sure this was created by some US or maybe brazilian script writer (although it is called "unsripted", what IMHO just meant the story itself). The so insightful way to tell a story like this is unfortunately very unusual here in Germany. And a person like Murray I have never met here, too. Fortunately in some other countries.
- An inspiration for my job (I am in that brand/ advertising thing) and private life simultaneously!

I find adveratisement very interesting...like how some colours trigger actions. Thats why in the 50's fast food restaurants were painted red, because red signaled the customers to leave, in turn, there would be new space for other customers...FAST food.

Yes, very subtile. Watch the colours (and a few changes in certain moments) of the film, very warm and mellow when it is about the man and his car, fitting to the story.
