I Think I May Have An Addiction...

Post by Slow Graffiti »

After coveting Rickenbackers from afar for many years my wife was nice (awesome really) enough to buy me a 360 for my 35th birthday back in June. Since then I've come to the realization that I should no longer go on eBay after coming home from dinner/drinks. Luckily she has let me keep my recent acquisitions, but for now I'm banned from the 'Bay ;-)

Here is the visual evidence for this rather reasonable request on her part:

From left to right:
620/6 Mapleglo, 610/12 Fireglo, 250 Silver (I replaced the regular knobs with gold ones to match the rest of the hardware), and finally the 360/6 Fireglo that started it all.

Addiction is such an ugly, pejorative term; you are a budding enthusiast. 8)
There is no reason to ever be bored.

...why yes, I suppose I do have a double bound guitar fetish...

Well put. Though I believe it is now a fully flowering enthusiasm. ;-)

And Ben, giving in has been way too easy...

Thank you sir. I'm most pleasantly surprised by the 250. I'd never played one before and I'm really impressed by the sound and the action on this one. Plus, I love the color and the body style.

Nice guitars, Brian!

But ... I am sorry to say, it is an addiction ...

And a lot of us have it! :) 8)

I was afraid of that, but I suppose admitting you have a problem is the first step. Towards what, I'm not sure, as I know I'll get more in the future, though not the near future. ;-)

I blame the fact that I gave up smoking three weeks ago and I'm just looking for an outlet. One day this will be cheaper...

I like your 250, too. The gold knobs are perfect. And that 610 is hot!

As far as addiction vs. enthusiasm: like many things in life, timing is everything, and balance and moderation make all the difference. Savor your acquisitions and let new ones come to you as fate decrees. You've a lot of years still ahead for collection-building.

Thanks, Kira! No worries on the addiction part, I know I've got many more years to clutter up our apartment. And I've got enough Ricks to enjoy myself for quite some time.

PS. I love your avatar. Is there a larger version available? We've got three cats, but I try to keep them away from the guitars!

Brian, try this:

Maybe you can grab it or screen-capture it.

I'm glad you like my little mash-up. John Hall also asked me for a large one as it resembles the Hall family kitty.

I wonder if his name is still Capri??

Brian - I can relate - I am up to 6 myself... and having the name Brian (which is from the Irish and means "the strong one") seems to make us especially prone to Rickenbacker addiction...

Brian,

You'll know for sure you have an addiction when you ask Kira if the guitar the cat is playing is for sale (and won't take "no" for an answer)!!!

Thats awesome...if I ever get a cat (I can't now, I have rodents) Its going to be white and named Capri.
