I have to disagree - I'm probably in the minority, but I love the entire Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy album. To me, the Alembic sound wouldn't work here. This album is more than a fusion of jazz, rock and latin - it's almost jazz/metal! Distorted Rhodes, distorted guitar, distorted bass - I'm in heaven!
You forgot the distorted drums, Harry!

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's distorted drums...

The other surprise piece of gear here is what looks like an ARP Pro-Soloist being played by Chick Corea. He was, of course, later renown for playing a Mini-Moog.

Great clips.
Great tone and proof if it were needed that a Rickenbacker is a fingerstyle jazz bass when required.
I saw some of this years ago on tv.
Is this out on DVD now?

Note that the (what Rick detractors call awkward) treble pickup cover is ON.
Also I think Stanley has taken the mute off as the screws are missing....or have they unscrewed themselves at some gig like they sometimes do?

Love the Rhodes.
Just saw Zappa plays Zappa in Manchester and there were some Rhodes moments from the Duke era songs.
Patrick Moraz,Joe Zawinul to add to the list of Rhodes exponents.

I wish they'd release DVDs of the early stuff if they haven't already. BTW, jealous about ZPZ Pete; didn't know they were on!
