Re: New RIC 4004Cii Special
These basses never had vintage style tailpieces.
Re: New RIC 4004Cii Special
I know, but it would look cool with one on their.jps wrote:These basses never had vintage style tailpieces.

Both of my 4004 5-string conversions have variations on the 4003 tailpiece. I've also routed a few customers stock 4004's for the stock 4003 tailpiece/bridge assembly.

And... NO BIDS!

I think that's a first, a one-off that didn't sell...

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Yes, pretty suprising indeed.
I'm betting it's the general state of the economy coupled with the fact that Christmas is just around the corner that has potential buyers a tad reluctant to pull the trigger. I'd bet that if it gets re-listed in January it will sell. It really is a great-looking bass.

On the used market, it's a $1300-$1500 bass. New, maybe around $1800. Is the brown burst a $1200-$1700 color?

It's a real shame that it didn't sell, and I do hope it wont put them off making more 'one off' guitars available.
One thing to take into consideration is that Ric don't offer any warranty outside of the US on the guitars that they auction on Ebay, so I would guess that could discourage any potential buyers who do not live in the US.

This is surprising! Don't get discouraged, RIC, your one-of instruments are fantastic. I'm sure my drivel on this won't matter much though.
Re: New RIC 4004Cii Special
I don't think they will have any trouble selling it either on Ebay or sending it to a dealer to sell.
If this is the only one the Outlet didn't sell first time out, that's a heck of an average.
Timing is everything, THAT would make a KILLER gift for some lucky soul!
It will sell, ROCK OUT LIKE MOTORHEAD!

The 4004's get very little love, unfortunately. I'd proudly rock that 4004Cii if I could have gone for it.

+1, although I was kind of wanting a two-piece neck if I ever got a 4004. I've played both at this point and I think I'd just prefer the "assurance" of a more stable two-piece.rickenbrother wrote:The 4004's get very little love, unfortunately. No bass guitar budget = same old fish in the pond. But then I have some pretty great fish already.
