short scale to long
Just recieved a 2011 midnight blue 4003 from MF sale. Killer price, could not resist, supposed to be back ordered till July 2012. It was made Oct. 2011, fresh from the factory. I was thinking I could not afford it and thought maybe I would sell TILL I OPENED THE CASE AND PLUGGED IN. Uh oh I am keeping it, not letting it go like I did my new 4001 in the 80's. Sounds fantastic, nice neck, enjoy the sound options, smaller horn, not heavy. Whole new world.

Good decision! Congrats and enjoy it!

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Nice! Were you playing a short scale before? I've got some short scales that I love, but I will always hold on to my 4001!
Re: short scale to long
Yeah Harry, I played short scale basses exclusively, always aware I probably should do both. The 33 1/4 on the Rick is better than 34 and of course the Rickenbacker is a superior instrument.

Cool - would be neat to see a picture of them together!
I like to play basses of different scale lengths. Maybe because I started on guitar, switching between instruments was never really a problem for me. Recently, I thought maybe I was getting too used to my other basses, but when I picked up my 4001 the other night it only took a few seconds to get back in the groove!

Hi paul.
Glad you're loving your new Ric.
I opened this post thinking you find the neck length of short scale basses too long. Doh

Congrats on your new bass Paul.
I scooped up a Midnight Blue from MF during the same sale, and really like it alot.
And the price was a no-brainer.

Watch those teeth, Marlin. I'm not sure we've properly sedated the beast . . .
