Um, let's see, hmm, how about, three of the controls are dual ganged pots for two each of the toasters, with the fourth control a master tone control, yeah, that's, like, it, man. Oh yeah, the switch! Hmmmmmmmm, well, I suppose it could be to switch between each pair on the dual ganged controls, hey yeah, that works.

How about original pickups from std output and J-bass style pickups from Rick-O-Sound output? Two basses in one, just plug in the one you happen to like today. Maybe that's why there are controls from both basses, the original knobs + J-bass knobs. Sure it's ugly but kind of fascinating idea anyway.
