4001CS Production Dates Mistery

Post by stts64 »

Everywhere I look I see it consistantly stated that the 4001CS Chris Squire signature was produced from 1991 - 2000. I have the #5 and had it confirmed by Rickenbacker that it was made in December 1990. What's up!? Would it be some kind of a prototype or kind of like the new car models - produced in one year for the release the next? Ant thoughts on that?

In my book, I have it: "The first CS bass was issued in mid 1990, and the last rolled off the line in early 2000."

There was an online register of the 4001CS . I can not find it now. Anyone has a link?

Oh no, I didn't mean the serial number, but the certificate number. Must be 1, 2 or 3 as mine from December 1990 is #5

Hi Paul,
I wrote a letter to Bassist Magazine who were part of Guitarist Magazine.
(They published a short piece I sent them about my bass.)
I asked if they could send me a print of the shots with Chris and my bass.
They sent me the slides!
Anyway I got a print or two from Boots and sent the slides back.
That photo has a couple of marks on it (you can see a smudge in the bottom left hand corner) from a photo that had Blu tac on it that was next to this one in the photo wallet.
Let me know if you want me to send you the photo or chase up the original from Guitarist Magazine.

I dont have a certificate for H3 6407 by the way.

Paul,
Thats the photo for the front cover of Bassist Magazine by the way.
Maybe permission would be needed if you want to use it.
But as I have a copy of the photo would that make it ok?
Got this one too......
I can send the file if thats better.
