Watched this twice now,it's always nice to get a glimse into the Ric factory. The whole process was fasinating to watch, the handwork on the binding & time spent on buffing sets Rickenbacker apart from other makers.
I would still love to see a video of the whole process of making a 4003.

The shaving do get expensive. Good for the company though, they are probably just selling off a waste product.
I kept my rodents on small wood chips rather than shavings - shavings usually have too much dust with it to be healthy.

Geesh, I'm giving rodent pet advise on a guitar forum???

How many pets do you actually have Ivan? A whole zoo? :?:
I have 2 Chinchillas - Cappi and Poppy
2 Degus - Windjammer and Zepher (A Degu is pretty much a double sized Gerbil, but they don't smell because they are dry mountain creatures, just like the chinchillas.)
1 African Grey Parrot - Pigeon
1 Snapping Turtule - Tippy (My brother found him whilst fishing when he was about 2 inches long.)
3 Corgis - Fruitbat, Sailor, and Jane.
I used to have Loads more, but we let the 2 box turtles back into the wild, and my 4 gerbils eventually died of old (very old for a geril) age. I had some insects at a time as well.
I would say one of my true passions are my animals.
I'd like to get a cat, but they don't go well with rodents and birds, I'd also like a giant blue tounged skink or a snake, but they eat rodents...a sugar glider would be nice to have as well, but they are extremely delicate and I wouldn't forgive myself if I were to accidentally hurt it. No ferrets - they smell. I had guinea pigs for a while, a really nice grey one named Agouti, and then I used to have rats, they smelled bad. No I stick to cleanly rodents. Also I used to have a rabbit.
In all honesty if anyone needs rodent advice just ask me. Most of my childhood until present was spent taking care of rodents.

Mr. Hall, didn't you guys used to attach the fingerboard and frets prior to carving the back on the neck?

Not to spoil the party, but "Pearl Red" is "Midnight Red" and this was a test guitar for the 620 that we sent to Tom Petty to auction off last October. Pearl Red will not be a Color of the Year.

That 360 JG was just a repair where we had to strip the paint off the back of the instrument in order to respray it.

The fretboard used to be attached prior to carving the neck back, but that changed several years ago as we updated our CNC engineering methods.

Thanks for the info Ben.

Will the test 330 be sold as a one off? It's nice!

Probably not. It also has a newer version of our UV curable finish on it, so we'll keep it around for a little while.

Appreciate your input Ben. It will interesting to see how that 330 turns out in the future.

That's okay, a standard production color is fine, too.

It would be a shame if we never see this colour outside of a one off.
How about you use this colour on the 75 Rickenbackers heading to GuitarGuitar in the UK next year?
I'm sure the Fender fanboys there wouldn't even notice.

Ivan, you can discuss pets in the Other Forum. Believe me, it would make alot better discussion than some of the topics have already been started there over the years.
I've had 3 parrots for many years. I suddenly also have two cats. The cats have learned to take parrot beaks seriously. Even my smallest parrot (Green Cheek Conure).
...And Tony just LOVES animals. Just ask him how many pets he's been through, especially birds!

With all the power screw drivers, I see why a number of my screw heads are half stripped. By the time I get done with them they are fully stripped. At some point, I should order a whole new set of screws.
