4001 4003 replacement bridge
well, good things come to those who wait. Have we waited long enough though? I spoke with David over at Hipshot Products today. He informed me that he is, as this post is being written, doing a production run of his 4001 replacement bridge. They should be back from the plating company in a couple of weeks. It is a drop-in replacement with the same footprint as the original. 4 individual saddles, like a P bass, with string width spacing adjustment. The cosmetic look is very much like the original overall but without the mute section. There is nothing more to do than screw it down and adjust the intonation. Change string gauges, no problem, tune yer 4 string to BEAD and be able to adjust the bridge, no problem. I wish i had more to say at this point. I received a protoype a while back, tried it, made my suggestions, and waited....patiently!
It seems to be finally at hand. Havent seen the final piece yet, but im sure it will be acceptable to most that are looking for a BRIDGE THAT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I now have a Hipshot type A bridge installed in my 4001, in place of the Badass. It's flush on the deck and gets me an acceptable action at the lowest setting. The BA had was countersunk 1/8". There's no ability to lower the strings until they buzz, but it's pretty much where I want it. The two bridges weigh about the same, however, I hear a bit less acoustic volume with the Hipshot. The string break angle may be less now. The quick loading feature is cool.
Anyone get Hipshot's Rick style bridge?
