It is the rare double cracked pickguard. Many Rick players back in the 70's and early 80's were annoyed by the lack of low-end from the 4001 and tried to raise the neck pickup to get more gain.

Notice how he implies that Mike Dirnt may have owned it? Anything to make a buck!

Rath! I'd have never pegged you as a Green Day guy!

my band does a green day song ... "Basket Case" ... that song is a lot of fun to play ... that band has a good bass player ... I play from 60's to present ... most styles ... I kinda prefer modern stuff where I get to use my B string ... the guy from Green Day has to be playing a p-bass ... that signature sound is all over their recordings ... I like to use my 4004L5 to play green day ...

Yeah, he plays a P-Bass. He used a Gibson Ripper when they first got famous. He currently has a Fender signature model that's a Telecaster Bass body with a P-Bass pickup.

I don't think the guitar rates an "excellent condition" rating with that on the back.

And YOU could be the owner of this finely crafted object of art for the low, low, rock bottom price of just $1500.00

See you guys later. I'm gonna go spray paint THE WHO on the back of my v63.
Play what you love, love what you play!
