The 1962 4001 referenced in the thread below is for sale at available at Pick of the Ricks. Great neck. Looks even better in person.

Wow, what a stunning bass! That one won't last long. I wish I lived closer to POTR - I would love to see it in person.

Me neither!

Would be cool to see this rare bass in much better detail than the original thread.

Click on the words "missing link" in the post, which is a link to the "missing link" thread, not an actual missing link. :P

I told Chris I wondered if it was the same bass.....that's cool.

This one would be a wonderful bass to have by any measure, dunno if I've ever seen another spec'd like this anywhere else.

Chris says the feel of the neck is to die for, even better than some '64s he's played. Must be sweet.

Maybe Chris hasn't had the chance to take pics of it yet or it's already got a new owner?

I'd also like to see it in better detail, better yet in person. Too bad for me that POTR is so far away.
The JETGLO finish name should be officially changed to JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

A couple of the owner's photos appear in my book, and its place (B) in the evolutionary links of the 4000 to 4001 design is illustrated:

 Sorry guys. I so rarely type 4000 when reffering to RIC basses. The bass is a '62 4000 not a 4001.

That being said, the bass is amazing. I played it at the Philly guitar show and have spent several weeks trying to sell my son to acquire it. Alas, nobody wanted a slightly used seven year old with head lice, so I had to pass on the bass. It has an amazingly perfect mixture of mint/mojo. The neck is one of the best I have played. The action is superb.

Its really interesting to see a 4000 pickup layout with deluxe features.
