Happy Solstice!
Happy Solstice!
Tonight is the longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the shortest night in the Southern Hemisphere. The December Solstice, which marks the change of seasons, occurs at 12:30 a.m. on the 22nd EST (9:30 p.m. on the 21st PST) when the Sun reaches its farthest point south on the celestial sphere. Happy Solstice!

Happy Solstice! Oh yeah bring on the longer days!
Re: Happy Solstice!
Remember though, for all of our friends in the Southern Hemisphere, it means the days will be getting shorter...

Hey, it's either them or us. I have no sympathy if it means languishing in this terrible darkness.cjj wrote:Remember though, for all of our friends in the Southern Hemisphere, it means the days will be getting shorter...

There must be an Eli the ice man effect,as it's still getting colder even though the days will be lengthening.

Happy freezing rain everyone. Looks like a green Christmas here.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Re: Happy Solstice!
I'm much happier about this than any of the season's holidays. I never realized how much more drastic the change is up north here, compared to Florida... and to think, I'm still technically in "the south!"
It gets dark by 5pm, what the heck is that??? I know... it's worse further north, I'm sure several of you will chime in about that and tell me to shut my hole!
