Re: RIP: Ed Roman
Wow. Always strikes me weird when I hear of the passing of another close to my age. He was really heavy those last years, nothing at all like his FB photo. Sorry to hear...

That's a shocker.

RIP, Ed, in that great guitar shop up there.
Re: RIP: Ed Roman
I met him once briefly at a NAMM show ... quite a character. R.I.P., Ed.

Yes, he was sort of an easy target and provided us all a lot of entertainment through the years. I'll miss him and I feel sorry for his family.

What a great story it would be if he left Roger McGuinn's old, allegedly stolen, 370/12 to it's original owner. RIP, Ed.

Just from reading, Ed seemed like quite the character. From reading his rants, he reminded me much of this friend of my dad's who is his recurring business partner. He even looked like him, too!
Ed also had some crazy prices. $12k for a Ric Townshend LE...maybe those prices will come down now that he's gone? Who knows? Anyway, we'll miss him. I was, however, a fan of the all-black Gretsch Country Gentleman guitars that were custom-made for his store.
Re: RIP: Ed Roman
From the Pictures I saw, it looked like he had a great selection of guitars.
I'm sure by the people who knew him, he will be missed. R.I.P.

I'd be curious to know how many deletes have been needed to keep this thread looking the way it does.

Re: RIP: Ed Roman
I don't want to speak ill of the dead, so I won't. However, when I worked out in Vegas for three weeks back in 2006 I visited his store on my day off. While looking around the store and making sure I didn't breathe on any of the guitars, I overheard a very loud, and very obscene conversation going on in what I thought was Ed's office. After hearing a string of expletives that would make a Teamster blush, I heard a phone being slammed down, and sure enough, it was Ed storming out of his office and slamming his office door behind him. I remember that he had a rack of Strats hanging by his office door and when Ed slammed this office door, he slammed it so hard that a couple of Strats fell off their hangers and crashed to the ground. Ed didn't even bother to turn around as left the store in a huff...I thought it was one of the funniest things I ever saw in my life...jdogric12 wrote:I'd be curious to know how many deletes have been needed to keep this thread looking the way it does.

I certainly wasn't trying to be funny, just an actual observation.jimk wrote:That's funny, Jdog.jdogric12 wrote:I'd be curious to know how many deletes have been needed to keep this thread looking the way it does.![]()

On a more serious note, yes, it is most surprising to hear of his passing. RIP, Ed.

I think many of us, myself included, are sticking to the "if you don't have anything nice to say" policy.
