Model pronunciations
I just wondered if there really is a 'correct' way to pronounce the various Ric models? I've always thought that it was three thirty, three sixty or six sixty, etc. Or do you guys say three three zero, three six zero and six six zero?
Re: Model pronunciations
For me it's the first way you said.

It's Ricken BACK er.
Re: Model pronunciations
It depends on what time zone one lives in.
Re: Model pronunciations
This gets interesting with the RoMo reissues: I have a 1997 1997 RI. Or the 1997 RI SPC (3-PU) could be called a 1998 1998 RI.JakeK wrote:Like Ron, first way. and I call RoMos Nineteen ninety seven, nineteen ninety three, etc.
Rose Morris must have believed the world would end in 1984.

Re: Model pronunciations
RIC refers calls for refinishing and out of warranty work to me, so my first contact with many of my customers is by telephone. 95% (I am NOT exaggerating) of them, tell me that they were referred to me by "Ricken BOCK er".jps wrote:It depends on what time zone one lives in.
I don't correct them, as work is work and everybody pronounces "dollar" correctly...
Re: Model pronunciations
So true, a Three Thirty in California, is a model Six Thirty here in Ohio. And if you're looking for one in Chicago, ask to see a Five thirty.jps wrote:It depends on what time zone one lives in.
Jangle, Chime & Twang.
Re: Model pronunciations
And,if you cross the date line, WOW it gets really confusing...

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Model pronunciations
Up here in Canada it is even more confusing -- a 330 in Ontario would be a 400 in Newfoundland.
Re: Model pronunciations
And in some parts of Canada it would be a 330A?

Re: Model pronunciations
Pronouncing Rickenbacker "Rick-en-BOK-er" is like calling New Orleans "New-or-LEENS." Both of them tend to grate on the ear!
