Model pronunciations

Post by RicukStu »

I just wondered if there really is a 'correct' way to pronounce the various Ric models? I've always thought that it was three thirty, three sixty or six sixty, etc. Or do you guys say three three zero, three six zero and six six zero?

This gets interesting with the RoMo reissues: I have a 1997 1997 RI. Or the 1997 RI SPC (3-PU) could be called a 1998 1998 RI.

Rose Morris must have believed the world would end in 1984.

RIC refers calls for refinishing and out of warranty work to me, so my first contact with many of my customers is by telephone. 95% (I am NOT exaggerating) of them, tell me that they were referred to me by "Ricken BOCK er".

I don't correct them, as work is work and everybody pronounces "dollar" correctly... :D

So true, a Three Thirty in California, is a model Six Thirty here in Ohio. And if you're looking for one in Chicago, ask to see a Five thirty.

Up here in Canada it is even more confusing -- a 330 in Ontario would be a 400 in Newfoundland.

Pronouncing Rickenbacker "Rick-en-BOK-er" is like calling New Orleans "New-or-LEENS." Both of them tend to grate on the ear!
