I use them on occasion. Only one's a real brown face Twin; another is a 40th anniversary Blackface Twin RI in blonde tolex, and the other brown face plate
is actually an early 70s silver face that was modded to black face specs, with the brown face look, and to half power and a hi/lo setting, with a tube rectifier, as well as the brown face style tremolo. That style tremolo is definitely different from the black face amps, though I must admit I prefer stronger choppiness of the black face tremolo circuit.

I am really bonding with the Strat. I tried recording a 20-second jazz solo on a Jazzmaster. I gave up after 20 takes and picked up the Strat. Nailed it in 2 takes.

Really! I've never been able to get a decent jazz tone from my Stratocaster. My Telecaster is another story, BEAUTIFUL jazz tone.

Agreed John..............but let's face it, not everyone who aspires to....... can actually play jazz. Nice work JDog. I would be honoured to play guitar with you sometime, after I have finished paying my blues and jazz dues. Hopefully the final payment is not made at the crossroads.

I was recently reading on TGP a question along the lines of "Why has jazz guitar tone remained unchanged for decades?" referring to the tone-down sound most think of a la Wes or Joe. But plenty of folks chimed in and mentioned lots of other players, Metheny, etc who have done something completely different. So I left the tone up for this one! But I think I did throw the pickup switch towards me, if not all the way. I can't remember what setting I used. I'm sure someone can listen and tell me.

So for all you people who wish the Beatles would tell us what settings they used on their guitars and amps for all their recordings.... see, I can't even remember what I did last week!!!

Of course that's true J. I really believe any guitar can do anything, limited perhaps only by number of frets or having no cutaway or that sort of thing.

If you hand me a one-pickup Charvel with a Kahler I'll play you some Chet Atkins on it.
