Stolen Rick

Post by ealdrett »

Hi there. This is Ed in Seattle and I haven't been on the forums for years since I no longer have my Ricks after my ugly divorce.
I hope to one day get a 4003 or 4004L BBR at a decent price. LOL. Things sure have changed here and it's looking good. Also just found out that Dale Fortune is moving out of the Pacific Northwest and back to Cali. Bummer! But good for Dale!!
Anyway, as the title on the thread states I'm passing on some information that I'm sure has been posted here in years past by other members.
Marty Willson-Piper, Rickenbacker guitarist for numerous bands including his bread winner, The Church, has recently posted on Facebook and The Church mailing that he is still in search for his prized stolen 1965 Rose Morris 1993 Ricky. He's hoping it might have surfaced recently due to Ricks being popular with new bands.
Here is the posting:

The 80's are back and hopefully ours guitars will be too.
Marty’s dream guitar – a 1965 Model 1993 Rickenbacker Rose Morris 12 string was stolen from a New York office back in the 80’s. Marty would love to get this guitar back. These guitars were exported to Europe and Australia from the US and have a traditional ‘f-hole’ instead of the normal Rickenbacker ‘cat-eye’ sound hole and are quite rare. SERIALNo. EB157.
This beautiful guitar can be seen played by Marty in the church video for A Different Man and is on the cover of his Rhyme album.

Also stolen on the same day was the Shergold Modulator 12 string SERIAL N0. 4010 that features in the video for Electric Lash and on the cover of the church’s Hindsight album and a custom made Rickenbacker 6 string with 3 p/ups and trem, Serial No. to follow at some point.

If by some miracle someone out there knows of the whereabouts of these guitars or comes across it, we would love this returned to Marty, especially his dearly loved ’65 model 1993 Rose Morris

Cheers and hope some of you great people on here can help out. Feel free to PM if you have info and I can pass it along to Marty or Tiare.
