First recording posted here

Post by martynwelch »

Having just bought my Blueglo 330 I decided to record something and opted to emulate a 12 string!

Played through a Behringer SE200 Spectrum Enhancer pedal and into a Yamaha Acoustic Magicstomp using their 12 string Patch U74. Recorded in Garageband on the Mac with its Fender amp emulation, some very subtle chorus and a single echo repeat plus Hall reverb and a tiny amount of compression. I added the extra two harmony parts for some variation in what could otherwise be rather repetitive when converting a song into a basic tune. Always liked James Taylor and this backing track from Karaoke Version sounded similar to the original.
Pickup switch in middle position and newly fitted Elixir 10s.

I'd be pleased to hear your opinions be they good or bad. :|

While I'm not a big fan of instrumentals, it's well played & the tone is killer on all the guitars!

I like it, both the arrangement and the tone! :D 8)

Hi, it sounds really good to me. The only way you could improve it would be to start saving for a proper Rick 12...... Please post more songs. Tom

I record late at night wearing headphones to avoid disturbing the boss so having this morning listened on desktop speakers instead, decided (as did 'she who must be obeyed') the backing was too quiet and the guitar tracks were overpowering it, so here's an adjusted version:

Does this improve things? I'd also be interested to hear opinions from 12 string Rick owners as to how close the Magicstomp patch and the 330 pairing get to a proper Rick 12 sound, not having one myself.

I may be a bass player buuuuuuuuuuuuut I was following another thread this morning & ended up at the Janglebox site. I listened to the classic 12 string sounds & found them fairly accurate. I also found them thin & lifeless compared to yours. Just sayin........
