What are Rickenbacker for?

Re: What are Rickenbacker for?
I use my 370/12 mostly for rythmn, with fills behind the voices, plus the occaisonal lead... I'm a 40yr plus flatpicker and while McGuinn is what drew me in to the Rickenbacker fold, finding my own 'sound' with the instrument is the best challenge of ownership. And I think I am almost 'there', but I'll probably never stop working on it...
So Rickenbackers are for playing..

Boy I wish The Beatles weren't the one that made these Guitars famous.

Ok I thought the video was pretty funny. I think the comments about single coil pickup buzz making the guitar unfit for metal suspect. Strats have a sh..load of singlecoil buzz & yet nobody thinks it's strange to use them for metal. Still the guy's funny.

Sir you are in luck. I drank a whole lot of expensive Belgian beer tonight - the kind that tastes like champagne - and decided to tackle one of the two Jane's Addiction songs I have heard. I hope this scratches whatever itches ya. You can do a whole lot on a Rick!Casiraghi22 wrote: Anything? Well try anything from Jane's Addiction![]()
P.S., I broke a B string during this; I'll PM you with my Paypal address so you can reimburse me.
P.P.S., I may regret this tomorrow.

Re: What are Rickenbacker for?
Chris Good posted a great clip of Richie Castellano shredding his tail off with a 325, and somewhere there's a clip of a guy playing real tasty jazz on a 330. You can also find clips of Gatemouth Brown on a TV show ("The Beat", maybe?"), playing blues on an early-'60's Mapleglo 360, and the late, great Hubert Sumlin played a Jetglo one for a short time with Howlin' Wolf. Yes, they work great for that '60's Beatles/Byrds stuff, but they're certainly not limited to that.

Let's not forget Unknown Hinson, either....he brings a whole new life to 620s and 360s.

Re: What are Rickenbacker for?
John did a amazing job. Most of the time Rick owners play classic rock. These Guitars have so much to offer instead of playing Beatle songs. In most cases, youngsters perfer to play Fenders or Gibson because they think that Rickenbackers are mostly for old folks. Well John proved it wrong.

Ah, that beer is cheap over here, but the Ricks aren't.
I see opportunities here.
How many Rickenbackers will you send me if I stood in line a whole day at Westvleteren abbey to get you a crate of the best beer in the world?
excellent vid btw, how come your pickups are white?
