Re: Swollen Pickle on a Rick
For me it's either this pedal or a Black Russian RI for bass fuzz. There's also the Pickle Pie B, but I feel like the WH Swollen Pickle MKII matches it for bass, if not even better since there are some internal pots you can play with to change its voicing. I tried the Pickle extensively before buying it, and had to adjust the Clip and Voice internal controls to 9 o' clock each to like the sound as well as a good muff. Honestly, it has a different character than the typical muff clone, so if that's what you're after you probably won't be happy no matter how great the pedal is. Ultimately it's probably best to have both a muff and a pickle in your arsenal if you are into fuzz.

Thanks for the reply Josh,
I wonder how the Tone compares to the B:Assmaster (geranium)? Can't seem to find one around here may have to go to ebay. Think I'll just cough up the $ on a Pickle in the meantime, store in the hood has a 30 day return policy.

Can't comment on that one, but as for the Bass Big Muff Pi, it is a fine pedal but with a different voice from both the Black Russian and the Swollen Pickle (though they say it is wired the same as the Russian in one of the settings, when I owned it, I could never get it to totally do that compared to an actual Russian or straight-up Russian RI).Droog61 wrote:I wonder how the Tone compares to the B:Assmaster (geranium)? I don't know what it's like over there but in the States I was able to get a very good deal on the Swollen Pickle with minimal searching.
Here are my favorite Pickle settings: Sustain 12:30, Filter 1, Scoop 1, Crunch 10, Clip 9, Voice 9.

Yeah, there's nothing like a Swollen Pickle into a Big Muff Pi. -- Sorry Cassius.

I'm trying to figure out just what the Pork Loin (great pedal) is a reference to... but I probably don't want to know.
Re: Swollen Pickle on a Rick
Signal chain question here: should take my swollen pickle and plug it directly into the big muff? My wife says the big muff should always come first, what do you guys think?

Re: Swollen Pickle on a Rick
I've played both (though not with Rics). The B:assmaster has more octave content and can achieve more of a bi-amped sound with independent clean and fuzz volumes, and heavy on the mid-range content. The germanium version is a bit smoother and less bite-y than the silicon version. The pickle is a different beast all together... massively scooped mids on the basic version, though the filter knob can highlight a specific range very well. Best for bass at low filter settings and it does a tremendous drone, but can be a little boomy sometimes.Droog61 wrote:Thanks for the reply Josh,
