Yipeeee!!!! Tuxedo from Ebay

Post by incubus2432 »

Just a post because I am thrilled that I scored Kendall's Tuxedo from Ebay. Paid a little more than I hoped to (drats....no Ric Forum discount ;-) ) but I am happy since I have been looking for a Tux and Blackstar for some time and the condition makes it worth it. Can't wait to get it and gig with it (gently of course). Now if only I could find a Blackstar at a reasonable price and if my 4004LK would show up I'd be set.

Well, if that's the case, I may have to get the NAACP involved and get this injustice corrected !

mmmmmm......volume discount !

Kendall,
If you have a Blackstar you'd like to part with (any condition) email me before you send the Tux. I'd actually prefer the Blackstar and I could make the appropriate Paypal adjustment. Thanks.

Actually I'm keeping it for the moment, it's my favorite bass.

Brian, congratulations! I knew it was you bidding on it, and I'm glad it is going from one Ric lover to another instead of some schmuck who is going to "Upgrade" it somehow. Enjoy!

My BlackStar has an amazing voice. The gods of tone have tsmiled upon it in a major way. I would be hard pressed to part with it. For some reason my Tux does not have the same bite and growl.

I'm very satisfied with the tone and playability of my current Rics. I happen to be one of those horrible people that switches (not upgrades) to Bartolini pickups because they give a slightly fuller tone (but still keeps the Ric character IMO) and I think handle the lows better. So, that being said, I will not alter the Tux but I am beginning to wonder if I made the right decision. I guess I've always wanted a Blackstar or a Tuxedo but now that I am getting one (I kinda thought my bid would fall short in the end like it always does) I am wondering what it's place will be with me since I am a player more than a collector and I am already starting to worry that using it on a regular basis (normal wear and tear) will hurt it's value.
Maybe I should wait to worry since the UPS man is still days away :-)

Good show Brian....it is good to keep the bass in the family. If it becomes a challenge for condition, you can always see your funds come back from it. I saw one on www.gbase.com and it is 1999.00 and not in nearly as good of shape..

It arrived yesterday. I am very happy with the condition. It is a little more of a cream color than I hoped but it is actually growing on me the more I look at it. It plays excellent and is similiar in feel to my other two. Here is my new family portrait.

pretty much all white Rics turn cream/yellow with age ... I have even seen some with green and brown spots ...
