Don't laugh, Jim, it's a colour-design out of nightmares

I may regret asking, but what's the story with that?

2012 4003+RUBY+CB+toaster+'shoe = doghouse for Chris.....

.....just sayin'

Hmm, Ruby. Being a newbie I've never seen that color. Metallic Sparkly? Interesting!

Rickenbacker's "metallics" (Ruby, Midnight Blue, Turquoise, Desert Gold) appear to be very fine grained, not the "sparkly" types seen on other brands these days. Metallics appear to add depth to the finish, and afford some color "shift" at certian lighting angles. They look best on curved surfaces like rounded edges and gentle contours where you get a more specular reflection (I think that's the proper term).

Yep- saw Ruby at NAMM. Very fine, almost pearlescant sparkles, an absitively amazing glow in person. Wife had to restrain my wallet. Looked best of the 360-style bodies, although the flatter topped bass bodies were still very pretty.

Just today, I picked up my new 381V69 RUBY from Pick of the Ricks.

It's the one that was on display at the NAMM Show. See page 24 of this post.

Beautiful beyond compare!

You are a very lucky guy! Saw that one up close-gorgeous!!
There is no reason to ever be bored.

I saw that Wildwood had a Ruby 4003 today... For a few minutes...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
