When I had my 4004C i noticed that the ABM bridge can not allow low string action as it is possible on my Schaller 3D equipped 4004CII. The Schaller features a shim you can remove to obtain the lowest setting I could achieve on a Rickenbacker bass. IMO that is really a better bridge.

I first got one of those Schaller bridges back in the mid '70s for a Jazz Bass that a friend of mine has now. 8)

Three different ways:

My favorite way, is upload your photo to a photo storage site like Photoshop. I think the photo can not be larger than 1200 pixel wide by 800 pixels high. Copy the bottom link that goes with the picture, you'll see it on the Photobucket page. then paste it in your post.
Another was, blown the reply window, you'll see Upload attachment. Click on that, it lets you browse through the folders in your computer until you find the one you want. Click on the file in your computer, then click on the Add the file button that you see under the reply window.
The third way is, if you can't figure it out, send the picture to me in an email and I'll post in for you.

I've never had problems with a 4004Cii neck. I've setup mine once and never had to touch them again.

Me too. Mine are rock solid. I very rarely adjust them. Now my 4003 is a different story for some reason.

I've not read this thread, but in response to Adam's question.

My 4004cii Blueburst had a ticklish neck. I tried most everything, nothing worked. THEN, it was suggested by Joey to RESET the neck.
I removed the strings, backed off ALL tension off the trussrods and let it sit in its case for a week.

Then, restrung with slightly heavier strings and it was FINE ever since. Never needed another adjustment for the two years I had it. I only sold it
to get a 4004cii with the new two piece neck.

I now have a 4004cii Purpleburst with a new neck. When I spoke to Chris at POTR, he feels these necks LOVE the tension of heavier strings.
Once we put a heavier gauge on, it too settled right down. It took a few slight adjustments, but now is rock solid.

Adam, in addition to the great advice Tony gave, I'd like to ask where you are located. Meaning, do you have huge temperature and especially humidity changes in your climate winter to summer. Here in Michigan I have to make small adjustments to most of my Rick necks (the old rods in the 4001 stay put) when it changes from the heated, drier winter to our more humid summer weather. This occurred to me when you stated "had it set up twice in six months."

i'm in ottawa, ontario canada.. yeah, there can be big changes in climate...but this hasn't affected my gibson les paul of my rick 4003. frustrating because it's probably the best sounding bass i've ever had. i'm taking it in today to see what the guy says. although the heavier strings in an interesting idea. i'll post the outcome.

Adam leave your 4004 in it's case when not in use and follow the directions in this vid. This will help your 4004 stay in a more consistent relative humidity environment. It's inexpensive enough to give it a try. Can't hurt, might help.
