I fully understand Ric's stand on the truss rod covers, but that stand hurts the little guy who simply wants to switch to a new color now and then. It's a minor alteration. My God, you should see what I and many others do to our Gretsches! I think the Ric's design is perfect so it doesn't lend itself to radical modifications, however a simple change of pickguard/truss rod cover color is a nice thing to do on a Ric.

Real RIC TRCs come up on here for sale every once-in-a-while, so getting other colors for your instrument is possible legally.

In Germany never! Nearly no spare parts, too.
That is the reason why I will start next year to go into Rickenbacker business. In the beginning just as a hobby - but who knows. My job is to work for interesting brands. And Rickenbacker is one, indeed.

Sascha, forum members put them up for sale and most all are willing to sell overseas. Sometimes it is as easy as putting a post in the Wanted forum to find the color you want.

But thank You. Strange: The time I was doing it, there was absolute noting on the market. (And I thought it is all the time this way.) Coincidence: actually there is one even in Italy. The benefit was I don't had to drill new screw holes.

And I really enjoyed the work on the parts, my parts for my guitar.

My 1st (370/12JG w/Hi-Gains), 4th (325/12V63), 6th (360/12C64) & 7th (370/12MG w/Toasters) Ricks were/are 12 strings... For me, Rick 12-strings are the "motherlode" of the allure. My interest in other Rickenbackers evolves out from that, but the heart of it all remains in the 12-strings...

My first was a Bass. Then I sold it. A few years later I got a 330-12, and then added a 360-6 before selling both of them.
Now I'm back and looking to replace the 12 String and the Bass but not necessarily the 6 string.
I'm a weird example because I play both bass and guitar and bounce back and forth.

I'm hovering around right now to swoop in for my first Ric, and I'll say, the 12 is the iconic one for me, guitar-wise (bass is epic in its own right).

After that, it's the struggle between toasters versus hi-gain, not as easy a decision as I thought, since toasters=harrison, but most of the bands I loved in the 80s used hi-gains.

my first and only one (so far) is a 1978 4001 fg, I love it, next one will hopefully be a nice old Capri, no 12 string on the horizon for me yet but you never know.
