360/12c63

Post by thejames8 »

Hi, this is my first post so forgive me for a massive lack of knowledge... but anyway. I'm really keen on getting a 360/12c63, and I know about the whole Rick waiting time, but if possible I wanna try and get around that (either second hand or tracking one down). As I live in the UK I knew it would probably be harder to track one down. However it's been almost impossible, I've tried ebay - and I've checked almost every music store I can find. To cut a long story short I've found one (finally!) but I wanna check that I'm not paying too much. They're asking for £3500 - which is a lot in itself and I know in the US you'd probably pay half of that. What would you're advice be? I'm going to try it out soon anyway, but should I wait around a bit longer? I'll try and see if they'll drop the price, but I doubt that they'd go for much under that.

Many thanks!

Hi James and welcome. £3500 is way too much. What are you after, Fireglo or Jetglo? There is a Jetglo on eBay UK now for £2000 and it has been re-listed 3 times. Otherwise it is actually cheaper to buy a mint/near mint one from the US and have it imported, than buy new in the UK - even adding in the tax and duty (total = price of the guitar and postage X 20% tax and then X3.7% duty and £10 customs fee). Somewhere like Olivias might be OK - on ebay or from their website, or maybe even one of the very lovely American RRF members could put you on to one.

Good luck with the search.

Sorry to hear about the sourcing scarcity in the UK. In NYC they have a gorgeous one at Rudy's Music Stop in Manhattan that I tried this week, it's gotta be cheaper to just hop on a roundtrip puddle jumper if you want to pick it up!

Thanks, I've started asking around US dealers - although I forget that I'll need to add on duty and tax.. what's a good price under 3k .. something like £2700 all in all? Do they normally hold their value? Thanks again for your help :) Don't know whether it's better to wait for one to bide my time and keep checking ebay too..

You could always hold out for a V64 they pop up now and again on ebay from between £1800-£2200 ish. There is a JG c63 in a Uk store at the moment at 3 K i think the Jgs are way better than the FG in the C63.
I wonder if your talking about the FG 360 in guitar guitar for 3.5K? if you were going to spend 3K on a new rickenbacker i would reconsider thats a lot of money for a new 360 that doublebound.I would wait and see, the Uk at somepoint in the future are expecting 75 one off Walnut guitars 25 330s,360s,4003s.Also they have White guitars heading this way that have been started so many new things arriving in the UK including the new ruby guitars i would hold that hoss just right now, thats if you can wait that is.
all the best
