How happy Am I.....

Post by los_sentidos »

Someone just gave me a Boss Bass Flanger and an Octaver for nothing, they said that they wanted to clear out the clutter and that their hubby left them when he left! So she gave them me for nothing!

I'm gonna have some fun experimenting with these!

Knock knock knock, "Where's my octaver, b*tch?!". "Your what?, oh, I gave that to Ronan"
Knock knock knock, "Where's my octaver, assh*le?!"
"I'm experimenting with it, who are you?"
"Oh really, well experiment with this!"

These are both really good units. On the Octaver I found the second octave below to be useless so I set it at zero. You have to use a very stacatto touch to get it to respond correctly but it's very usefull for a thicker sound(kinda like a potato head 8-string..Ouch!)

LMAO. well I made it through the night, even though the pedals had been rigged with explosives and a Uzi had had been booby trapped into the bass amp - I have erad too many Dan Brown and Robert Ludlum books to fall for any such tricks! I managed to rig the Octaver, Flanger and VXL pedal up.

Dane, you're right about the settings for the Octaver - I did like it to fill it out a little - I used it on one song we recorded a few weeks back (I believe the one I used was belonging to Radiohead as we were in a studio they loan stuff from and lend stuff too - we even used some of their rack effects, compressors etc.. during mixing which was cool)

As for the flanger I'm gonna go all space rock now!

I was reading a website yesterday and it was saying how Spacemen3/Spiritualized often run organs and keys through bass effects!

Anyway - I love the sound of it - switching from classic rick tone to the 8 string feel to the total messed up flanger sound! and I've lived to tell the tale. Now if I can only repay the wife :p we managde to also get a chorus pedal and EQ for the guitarist and loads of leads. She even mentioned us having a PA from her!!!
