4001 V63 Swap

Post by slacker »

I have been considering swapping my Fireglo 4001 V63 for a Jetglo 4001 V63. What is the difference in value, all other things being the same?

I know the Jetglo's were made in smaller quantities and are somewhat uncommon. How much money should I expect to kick in to make up the difference?

Would it be worth it to do a refin? How much of the resale value would I be losing?

Just so you know, my Fireglo is a 2000 and in near mint condition. No, I am not interested in selling outright. I just want a color change.

Also, I would not be doing anything until after the first of the year. Christmas cash flow thing.

Thanks!

Color is a personal preference. My favorite is mapleglo but my experience is that it is always easier to sell a fireglo, at least where I live. If you read the posts hear you will see that everyone's preference is all over the map. I think FG is easier to sell because of McCartney and Harrison's guitars were FG. Just my guess. Doing a refin would de-value it. I wouldn' even consider it.

Funny enough I never seem to see enough, or at least the right Fireglo's for sale. I'm always finding Jetglo's and Mapleglo's, even Azureglo's, but it took me a long time to eventually find my v63 in Fireglo.

I'm still looking for a 73 4001 with chequered binding in Fireglo.

I fully agree with Ken, colour is always a personal preference, and mine is Fireglo.

That's right, tease me !!!

Now when / if you ever decide to part with this wonderful instrument I'd be very very interested. Always nice to see this lovely 4001 Jeff.

My favorite finish for a 4001 or 4003 is jetglo. I think the V63 looks great in all the finished it was offered in, but just my humble opinion that the V63 looks best in fireglo.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

In my case I had to to fit it here on the site ... the 500x500 resrtriction really bites when your originals are 2048x1024 !!!!!

I'll send you the originals if you like !!!

Thanks, Jim, it's my favorite. Here are the bookends:

I've posted this a few times, didn't want it to get old. I don't know why, when I reduce the photo it gets pretty nasty, they are actually in focus at my house.
