Re: 4003 Blackstar
Is the fretboard on that 4004 stained dark or painted?

Originally they were placed as pictured on my Laredo then they went to the placement shon on the site and they switched back to the original layout when it was found that removing the truss rods was an issue with the pickups placed away from the neck. I actually prefer the current placement anyway o I hope they keep it as is.ricnbacker wrote:Brian.
I was wondering why the P/u on yours looks like its butt up against the neck and the ones on the Rickenbacker site look like that are an inch or 2 below that ??
Thanks Brian
Re: 4003 Blackstar
That bass now sports green flames on top and an Audere (I believe) preamp in it. The green is VERY subdued. I just played this bass Sunday at Brian's. You might contact him about it.
Not a great pic, but you get the idea. That's his LK next to it.

Thanks for the pic John. It is actually a John East/ACG filter based preamp. The Laredo ships out to it's new owner today so I'm down to just the LK (for now).

Imagine that treatment on a guitar, on one of those ugly green coloured 650As! It would turn into something great, imo... I'm usually not that into basses, but thos looks great!incubus2432 wrote:BTW......Paul W. does a mean Blackstar treatment.....

Thanks! I think The 4004 was the perfect candidate for the blackout treatment. No clutter or excess hardware........just the basics in monochrome.Wildberry wrote:Imagine that treatment on a guitar, on one of those ugly green coloured 650As! Sold in less than 24 hours after listing. I priced it for a quick sale due to the mods. Someone got a good deal.johnallg wrote:Wow, that was fast! Congrats.

Well, it got used and gigged plenty for a few years but has basically been in it's case lately so it was time to go.
