Bruce, that is astounding that you have the only visible Ric in Vegas... considering how many Rics moved through Ed Roman's store over the years.

Rich, maybe there's some unspoken rule I've not been clued in on that we Rick owners have to all work on the same nights so we don't see each other at different venues.

I live in France… not ever seen any new one in stock in any shop, go figure !
…and I'll not talk about their prices !!!
Rickenbackers guitars are totally "exotic" over here !
The only way for us to order a brand new one is to go through Thomann (huge German e-store… but nice !) or DV247 in England…
It's why I just bought mine used from a french guy, one month ago, that himself bought it used from a french guy who bought it new in the USA in 2006…

I'm quite sure that the first man to open a "Ric Shop" in Paris will get golden within some months ! Who knows ?

Our local dealer (Long and McQuade) gets some through, both new and used. I've seen several in the hands of players the last few years, but I usually know the guy who owns it! Mostly basses for players the last year or so.
The internet has allowed guys like me in the relative backwaters to get vintage instruments which has been a huge bonus.

I know for sure there are 5 Rick basses in the Zoo, mine. There was a beautiful '76 MG 4001 about 4 years back but the idiot who bought it played it the next week at this birthday party, tried a back flip while playing it, and snapped the neck off. Then there was the '87 (89?) 4003S Red that was at the GC for about 2 years that eventually sold. I've never seen one played out though. Guitar neither. There was a 4001 JG back in the very early 70s.

In my youth in Northern NJ there were a good amount of dealers selling Rics. At the time all I could afford was used. Now that I can afford new, believe it or not, there are no Ric dealers in Dallas, TX. Closest one is in San Antonio, a 5 hour drive. Makes it difficult to try one on for size and doesn't really do anything to introduce new people to the brand. Seldom do you see one come up for sale privately. Of the last two (guitars) that were on CL, I snapped up a 360 but missed a 620 by a few minutes. The hunt is part of the fun, too!

Perth Australia ... hmmm ... well, I know a guy with a 330/12. There's a shop a couple of kilometres from me that has something like 10 Rickenbackers sitting around gathering dust (t'was the first time I ever saw a 325 in person - they wanted 5 grand for it so that's when I started keeping an eye on Ebay ...)
